Team at Regionals

This year again brought forth new challenges for us to overcome in the design, the greatest being the larger distance between the abutments than the decking support introducing the need to introduce a completely 3-D design. By this we meant, that 2-D modeling for initial stages would not be enough because the offsets were to large to be ignored.

In the end we build our bridge and gave it a shot. After a few adjustments we felt confident and traveled down to Terra Haute, IN for regionals. There, we ended up finishing first in construction speed and first overall.

After a bit more work, we felt ready for nationals and traveled down to West Lafayette, IN to compete. In the end we ended up with the following results:

Weight – 250.6 lb
Deflection – 1.22 in
Construction Speed – 5:33
Overall – 13th place
